Here's an interesting article in regards to the fall of WorldCom and Enron, both based in the South. The best quote from the article;

"The states of the Confederacy remain the heartland of the distinct brand of American conservatism that combines Christian, market and America-first fundamentalism to a unique degree, reinforced in the South by a legacy of barely submerged racism."

Part of the motivation behind the article is our Europena allies taking delight in our failure, but hey it's true. Goes back to my whole speil on Religion and marketing. It's not exactly the same thing, but I'm always disturbed by the whole validation of greed and Christ going hand in hand... very disturbing. I found it thru Slate.com.
